The film Vuelven (2017), directed by Issa López, stands out for its bold combination of fantasy and horror with a deeply real backdrop: the violence of organized crime in Mexico and its devastating effects on children. Through narrative devices reminiscent of fairy tales and J-Horror, López constructs a story that, without losing its fantastical dimension, reflects legal and social issues such as the vulnerability of minors and insufficient state protection.
